Application of Six Sigma in an asphalt mix production company
This article presents the application of the Six Sigma methodology, as well as other Industrial Engineering tools, in a company from the secondary sector dedicated to the manufacture of specialized asphalt mixture. The objective was to reduce the variation in the weight of filled sacks, as well as the reduction of waste of finished product. Both problems were resolved through the identification of their root causes and the implementation of high-impact solutions. In the end, the process was improved, increasing the sigma level from 1.9 to 3.9 upon completion of the project.
