Utility of ThinPreps in Enhancing Diagnostic Precision of Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) Samples from Lymph Nodes
Objectives: Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is a widely used, minimally invasive technique for evaluating lymph node lesions. Rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) during FNA procedures enhances diagnostic adequacy but may extend procedure times. ThinPrep, an automated liquid-based cytology technique, offers a standardized method for specimen preparation that may improve diagnostic precision by providing uniform cell distribution and reducing background blood and debris. This study aims to compare ThinPrep and Cytospin preparations of lymph node FNA samples to assess their impact on cytomorphologic quality and diagnostic accuracy.
