The new compensation procedure is not retroactive

Amendments to Article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, which entered into force on March 1, 2025, have been considered, which significantly change the procedure for compensating unused time off for work on weekends and non-working holidays upon dismissal of a medical worker. The analysis of the established right of a medical worker to use such time off during the year, or to join his vacation, has been carried out. The established procedure is considered, obliging employers to pay compensation for unused time off accumulated over the entire period of work for this employer upon dismissal of these employees. It is noted that Federal Law No. 339-FZ of 30.09.2024, which introduced these amendments, is not retroactive, that is, it does not apply to time off from work on weekends and non-working holidays unused until March 1, 2025.
