Innovations, problems and prospects for the formation of reporting information on financial instruments

The article examines the regulations for the formation of reporting information on the financial instruments of organizations. Significant differences in the composition of financial instruments and financial investments, the accounting of which is currently regulated by PBU 19/02 “Accounting for Financial Investments”, are revealed. It is noted that the Program for the Development of Federal Accounting Standards for 2022–2026 provides for the adoption of a new FSBU “Financial Instruments” for organizations that are not related to the public sector. However, at present, only a draft of this FSBU has been published, and the standard itself has not yet been adopted. This is due to the absence of requirements for the presentation of reporting information on financial instruments in the new FSBU 4/2023 “Accounting (Financial) Statements”. The article provides a comparison of the regulations on the disclosure of reporting information on financial investments in FSBU 4/2023 “Accounting (Financial) Statements”, PBU 4/99 “Accounting Statements of an Organization” and the Order of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation No. 66n dated July 2, 2010. Their similarities and differences are identified, possible changes to the regulations of FSBU 4/2023 “Accounting (Financial) Statements” are substantiated in the event of the adoption of the new FSBU “Financial Instruments”.
