A randomized controlled study was conducted in Turkey to evaluate the effects of blowing pinwheel and cough techniques on pain in school-age children during venipuncture (Merter et al., 2025).Children (N = 105; ages 6 to 12-years) were randomly assigned to one of three groups: blowing pinwheel intervention group (n = 35; 62.9 % male), cough trick intervention group (n = 35; 62.9 % male), and control group (n = 35; 74.3 % male). Results demonstrated significantly lower pain intensity associated with venipuncture as measured by the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Scale (p < .001),Visual Analog Scale (VAS) (p < .001),and the Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability (r-FLACC) scale (p < .001),as compared to pain in children in the control group. Moreover, the cough trick intervention was found to be YJPDN-03820; No of
