Tutorial books – multimodal texts with a wide range of applications
<ns3:p>The paper addresses topics related to autonomous learning understood as self-directed-learning. The main focus will be on tutorials – types of texts supporting learning without the help of a teacher, which started to appear with the advent of the 19th century. The aim of this study is to show the origins of self-directed-learning, as well as a general characterisation – using selected examples – of the wide range of texts designed for autonomous learning in many areas of life. This issue furthermore fits into the field of text linguistics research.</ns3:p>
