Conceptualization of the sensory perception of a blind person based on the books by Michał Kaziow

<ns3:p>The article is devoted to the conceptualization of sensory perception, which emerges from two biographical novels by a blind author. In healthy people, the sense of sight dominates in the hierarchy of senses. In the case of Michał Kaziów, who lost his sight at the age of 20, the sense of hearing dominates. This results from the replacement of visual impressions by auditory impressions and the numerous descriptions of various speech acts. The sense of touch is also of greater importance. Although the author of the novel and his characters are blind, one can also find numerous references to visual perception in the text. They result from the fact that the characters lost their sight as people with a fully developed language and memory of visual impressions. Another reason is also the awareness of the lack of vision, membership in an organization of blind people, surrounding oneself with visual objects (e.g. documents, books, letters) and the language of other people who describe their visual impressions.</ns3:p>
