The Swiss socio-political model in the face of contemporary challenges

<ns3:p>The author introduces the challenges facing contemporary Switzerland. These challenges are related to the processes of globalization and relations with the European Union, the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine and cultural and social changes. The Swiss socio-political model also currently makes it possible to find effective solutions to emerging problems and to adequately respond to the dynamism of internal and external processes. The author proves this by discussing political and economic issues, the country’s neutrality and changes in the structure of society. At the same time, he notes that the socio-political model of the Swiss Confederation is increasingly threatened, and the Confederation itself seems to be gradually losing its sovereignty. What gives us hope is the fact that there is no shortage of initiatives in civil society aimed at defending it. The instruments of direct democracy, and above all the people’s initiative, are extremely helpful in this regard.</ns3:p>
