Opportunities Before Offshore Technologies And Industry In Black Sea Zone

OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGIES are traditionally referred to Oil & Gas industry. However, since year 2014 hydrocarbon discovery and exploration is not a priority of marine & offshore engineering anymore. There are other disruptive technologies related to renewable energies, seabed mining and subsea engineering. In addition to the well-known offshore renewable sources of energy, Black Sea offers another, unique one – hydrogen sulfide, which is a disruptive threat and a disruptive technology at the same time. Besides technology on place, there are certain prerequisites that an offshore project should meet to be successful. Front End Loading (FEL), being one of them, is an important process to ensure that a project will not fail. Over the last few years the big players in the multi-billion offshore industry realized that they cannot rely on hydrocarbon exploration only. Nowadays for an Offshore Technology Company to be reputable, strong, with sound strategy and vison may not suffice. It must be agile enough to adapt to new market realities, disruptive technologies and social demands. For the Black Sea Zone it is time to decide whether we shall stay in shallow waters or go deep, think small or do big? What is the right offshore projects to do – subsea pipelines, seabed mining, renewable energy offshore plants or floating industrial and civil structures? Or just go to the beach?
