Analysis and optimization of air reservoirs in medium and heavy vehicles
Abstract The air reservoir, as a crucial component in the pneumatic brake system of medium and heavy vehicles, has a significant impact on the safe driving of the vehicle. Increasing the wall thickness of the air reservoir is conducive to enhancing its pressure resistance performance and ensuring its intrinsic safety. However, it increases production costs and fails to fully utilize the performance of the material, resulting in a waste of resources. The pressure resistance performance of air reservoirs with different structures and thicknesses was analyzed, and the tensile test data of the base metal was processed to obtain the real stress-real plastic strain data of the material, which was used for the subsequent numerical simulation of the pressure resistance of the air reservoir. The partial mechanical properties of the air reservoir were studied, and a design method for the air reservoir based on elastoplastic mechanics was explored, which holds theoretical and practical engineering significance.
