Research on mechanical characters of external prestressing deviator with different steering methods
Abstract To investigate the influence of the integrated and the distributed steering modes on the mechanical performance of the external prestressing deviator, the finite element models of the two steering modes were established respectively. The effectiveness of the finite element model is verified by comparing it with the experimental data in the literature. The research shows that the steering method has a significant impact on the force performance of the steering device. The maximum compressive stress of the distributed steering mode on the deviator is more than 90% lower than that of the integrated steering mode, and the maximum tensile stress is more than 50% lower. For the maximum Mises stress of the steering steel pipe, the distributed steering mode is about 85% lower than the integrated steering mode. At the same time, different steering modes have little effect on the stress distribution and deformation of the steering device. The stress distribution of the two steering devices is the same, with compression above the steering channel and tension below the steering channel. The deformation situation of the two is the same, both with significant deformation at the connection between the steering device and the beam, and decreasing with increasing distance. In practical engineering applications, due to the good stress characteristics of the dispersed beam steering device and considering the maintenance and repair during operation, it is recommended to use the dispersed beam steering device.
