Vibration and noise analysis of a 5000 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker based on the finite element method
Abstract This study evaluates the noise of a 5000 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker using finite element and acoustic methods. Vibration characteristics of the superstructure were analysed to ensure natural frequencies meet design standards. VA ONE software predicted noise levels in various areas, assessing contributions from the main engine, propeller, and ventilation system and suggesting noise reduction measures. The results confirm the vibration design meets frequency requirements, and noise levels comply with the IMO MSC.337(91) standard, supporting further ship design optimisation.
