Electrochemical properties of NiO nanoparticles modified glassy carbon electrode

Abstract A surface-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated through physical incorporation of nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs)within a chitosan matrix using a facile drop-casting approach. The electrochemical behavior of the NiO NPs-chitosan modified electrode was systematically investigated through cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements for measuring potassium ferricyanide and H 2 O 2 .NiO nanocrystals modified electrodes exhibited excellent electrocatalytic ability. The larger surface of NiO nanoparticles favored electron transfer with excellent electrocatalytic performance. The scan rate analysis revealed that the redox process is diffusion-controlled. Under the best experimental conditions with a pH of 6.5, the catholic peak current (I pc ) versus concentrations was exhibited by a linear response over the ranges from 50 μM to 50 mM with a detection limit of 67.77 μM. The probe displayed excellent reproducibility.
