Research on structural optimization of heat insulation sleeve for turbocharger

Abstract As a key component of the turbocharger, the failure of the thermal sleeve will increase the heat dissipation of the turbine of the turbocharger, not only reducing the efficiency of the turbocharger but also significantly increasing the working temperature of the bearing housing. Considering its operational conditions under high-temperature and high-pressure exhaust gas environments, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) techniques are employed for multiphysics coupling simulations. By constructing a numerical model of the thermal sleeve, defining material properties, boundary conditions, and simulation workflows, the results from CFD, temperature field, mechanical stress, and thermomechanical stress analyses are thoroughly investigated. This approach evaluates whether the structural strength of the thermal sleeve meets the design requirements and provides recommendations, thereby offering significant references for the design and optimization of the turbocharger thermal sleeve.
