Numerical simulation of water-entry cavity based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics
Abstract The problem of cross-media water entry slamming of structures widely exists in military and engineering fields. The traditional numerical solution method based on grid discretization needs to use the VOF method to track the two-phase interface accurately. Therefore, based on the smoothed particle hydrodynamics methodology, a multiphase flow SPH numeric methodology combined with an adaptive particle refinement technique is proposed to emulate the structures’ slamming water-impact procedure. This method does not need mesh, avoids mesh distortion and reconstruction problems, and can accurately capture complex interfaces without additional interface tracking algorithms.
