Study on the mechanical characteristics of impact load in the rigid-flexible coupling system of scraper conveyor

Abstract Scraper conveyors work in harsh environments underground in coal mines, where the load of coal material falling is uncertain and can easily generate abnormal loads. To analyze these loads, we established a simplified model that specifically focuses on the influence of coal materials on chain wheels and chains, as well as their small deformations. The results indicate that the rigid-flexible coupling model is more accurate through flexible machining and simulation of key components. Using ADAMS software to simulate impact loads, it was found that the chain tension was higher near the nose and lower near the tail, indicating uneven tension distribution. At the same time, when an impact load is applied, the stress on the inner side of the straight section and the curved section of the chain is higher, and the stress distribution varies depending on the size of the load. These findings provide a theoretical basis for tensioning strategies and chain link optimization design.
