Research on the influence of boundary conditions on the separation force of hinged metal expansion bellows
Abstract Metal expansion bellows are extensively employed to absorb axial, lateral, and rotational displacements in pipes to prevent pipeline rupture or damage to linked equipment caused by excessive displacement. The separation force of articulated metal expansion bellows at high pressure has a direct impact on the durability and lifespan of the articulated joints. This paper investigates the sources of separation force using the structural properties of the bellows, develops a separation force calculation model, and demonstrates the influence of corrugation and the Poisson effect on separation force.
