Performance Enhancement for B5G/6G Networks Through the Deployment of IRS Adaptive Group Number Index Modulation
Nowadays, serious efforts have been spent on solving issues linked to maximizing the aggregated data rate and spectral efficiency to acquire the breakthrough of 5G and beyond 6 G services. This paper proposes Adaptive Group Number Index Modulation (AGNIM) technique for the Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) to enhance the Spectral Efficiency (SE) of mobile communication systems. The proposed IRS-AGNIM depends on selecting a group of elements in the IRS to reflect the wireless signal from the base station to enhance the received channel quality that carries information bits to the edge user. In addition to the transmitted information bits over the wireless channel from the constellation symbols, the activated IRS groups are exploited to convey additional information by the means of the Index Modulation (IM) scheme to increase the SE. The paper introduces the system model for IRS-AGNIM system and provides its analytical analysis for both SE and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. As a trade-off, the proposed system offers higher spectral efficiency while maintaining satisfactory error performance. The results outperform the conventional system and highlight the potential of IRS-AGNIM as a promising approach for next-generation wireless networks.
