ABSTRACT APARECIDO DOS SANTOS, Hiago. The implementation of enterprise resource planning systems (SIGES/ERP) as a strategic tool: impacts, challenges, and benefits in the public and private sectors. 26 p. End-of-course paper in Technologist Degree in Information Technology Management. Faculdade de Tecnologia de Jundiaí – “Deputado Ary Fossen”. Centro Estadual de Educação Tecnológica Paula Souza. Jundiaí. 2025. This paper analyzes the impacts, benefits, and challenges of implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in public and private institutions. Based on a literature review and case studies, the research aims to understand how these systems contribute to management modernization and increased operational efficiency. In the private sector, ERPs optimize processes and boost competitiveness; in the public sector, they promote transparency, data integration, and better resource allocation. The study finds that the benefits — such as cost reduction, improved decision-making, and process standardization — outweigh the adoption challenges, including high costs, resistance to change, and technical complexity. The conclusion highlights that, when properly planned and supported by internal training, ERPs become essential strategic tools. Future research is encouraged to explore the influence of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, on the evolution of integrated systems. Keywords: integrated management systems; ERP; information technology; business management; public and private sectors.
