DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF MULTISPECTRAL PHOTOPLASMONIC PERFECT LIGHT ABSORBER

Abstract Bloch periodic plasmonic metasurface can couple with the evanescent surface states of a dielectric multilayered structure, such as a one-dimensional photonic crystal. The coupled Bloch surface waves have the characteristics of both plasmonic and photonic nature exhibiting distinct spatiotemporal confinement within the photonic band gap, leading to low-loss plasmonic resonances. We propose a photo plasmonic metamaterial device that achieves multispectral perfect absorption in the visible range. Ellipsometry measurement confirms plasmonic activity while S-parameter analysis of the device reveals its capacitive nature contributing to the low loss point like absorbance. The significantly large Q-values of the photo plasmonic resonances and the complete exclusion of transmission due to the photonic band gap contribute to the discrete multispectral perfect absorption of the device.
