ACIDENTES E COMPLICAÇÕES COM EXTRAVASAMENTO DE HIPOCLORITO DE SÓDIO NA ENDODONTIA: RELATO DE LITERATURA
Endodontic treatment, better known as root canal treatment, is of paramount importance for preserving the health of the tooth, removing the infected pulp and cleaning the root canals to prevent future infections. The sodium hypochlorite solution acts as a disinfective agent and is one of the most used by dentists for the irrigation of these canals during treatment. It's alkaline PH increases the dissolving capacity of organic tissues, eliminating microorganisms and causing these canals to be cleaned. Despite being a great ally, this component can cause complications during the procedure, such as extravasation in periapical tissues. This extravasation is due to some factors such as a wide apical foramen, excessive pressure during irrigation, incomplete formation of the root apex of the teeth and violation of the apical foramen through mechanical preparation.
