FISIOTERAPIA PÉLVICA NO TRATAMENTO E PREVENÇÃO DA INCONTINÊNCIA URINÁRIA EM MULHERES NO PERÍODO PRÉ E PÓS-NATAL: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA DE ESTUDOS CLÍNICOS

Pregnancy and the postnatal period are pivotal phases in a woman's life, marked by significant physical and emotional changes. During pregnancy, the female body undergoes several physiological adaptations to support fetal development. Studies indicate that increased progesterone levels in the first trimester are associated with a higher risk of urinary incontinence (UI) during pregnancy. In this context, pelvic floor physical therapists play a key role in the assessment and treatment of UI. This study aims to review the available evidence on the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic interventions in women during the prenatal and postnatal periods. It consists of a systematic review based on bibliographic research conducted according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, including clinical studies published between 2014 and 2025. The study is expected to gather data on methodologies used for the prevention and treatment of UI, as well as to highlight the relevance of the pelvic floor physical therapist’s role in this field.
