Role of kmax mapping image annotation method combined with R-tree index in civil engineering supervision
The rapid growth of civil engineering projects has intensified the demand for efficient supervision frameworks. This study proposes a hybrid image annotation and retrieval model to address the inefficiencies in processing heterogeneous construction data. By combining Residual Networks (ResNet) with Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), this model utilizes Kmax mapping (a dynamic feature selection strategy inspired by CNN pooling) to annotate multi-level spatiotemporal features of supervised images. Meanwhile, an enhanced R-tree index based on spectral clustering optimization is introduced to accelerate retrieval speed by reducing node overlap and improving spatial partitioning. Experimental results demonstrated that the model achieved a convergence loss of 7.84 with Kmax mapping, while the optimized R-tree reduced average retrieval time to 5 seconds for small-page datasets. The proposed framework significantly improved annotation accuracy (over 95% in crack detection) and decision-making speed, offering a scalable solution for real-time engineering supervision. This work bridges the gap between automated image analysis and practical civil engineering management, advancing the informatization of quality control processes.
