Financial Management, Challenges, and Coping Strategies of Private Schools in Sanchez Mira: Its Effect on School Management
This study investigates the relationship between financial management, challenges, and coping mechanisms in the context of school management among private high schools in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan. It reveals significant variations in school profiles, with enrollments ranging from 190 to 599 students and teaching staff numbers fluctuating between 8 and 18. While financial management practices are generally rated as “Very Satisfactory,” particularly in fund allocation and expenditure, the reliance on tuition for revenue generation highlights a critical need for additional income sources. The financial challenges faced by these schools are primarily due to unstable family incomes, leading to delayed tuition payments and reduced collection rates, particularly in rural areas with lower enrollment. In response, schools have adopted coping strategies such as flexible payment plans and enhanced fundraising efforts, although these require ongoing refinement for sustained effectiveness. The study further identifies effective leadership, staff performance, and curriculum alignment as strengths that support student success and teacher satisfaction. A positive relationship between financial and school management levels suggests that improved revenue generation can enhance overall school performance. The conclusions emphasize the importance of diversifying income streams, proactive financial management, and strong leadership structures to ensure the long-term success of private high schools. Recommendations include expanding revenue sources, implementing robust budgeting practices, offering flexible payment options, enhancing leadership development, and regularly updating financial strategies to adapt to changing conditions. These steps are vital for maintaining high- quality educational environments and achieving better academic outcomes for students.
