Attosecond inner shell X-ray lasing

In this work utilizing stimulated X-ray emission spectroscopy we report the first observation of two fundamental non-linear laser matter interactions at the angstrom length scale : Rabi-Cycling an Filamentation. We not only report the observation these phenomena in hard X-rays, but also provide in-depth theoretical analysis on origin of the phenomena at the angstrom length scale and attosecond time scale. In addition, we describe how such phenomena can be used to generate attosecond angstrom X-ray laser pulses that can be utilized for next generation spectroscopy applications. This work we believe to be fundamental to the development of new hard X-ray non-linear spectroscopy techniques, which has potential for far reaching applications from fundamental physics and chemistry to the materials and biological sciences.
