Advances in high-temperature superconducting undulators: progress and future directions
High-temperature superconducting (HTS) technology has gained significant interest as a promising solution for developing short-period, high-field undulators. These devices hold great potential for enhancing the performance of storage ring light sources and linac-based free-electron lasers (FELs). This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in HTS undulator research and development undertaken by various groups worldwide. It will also delve into the challenges faced in scaling this technology for practical applications, ongoing collaborative efforts, and the prospective pathways for its adoption in next-generation accelerator facilities.
