Imaging applications of laser-driven x-ray sources

X-ray imaging is a powerful tool for non-destructive inspection of matter, widely used in industry, hospitals and for scientific research. As the demand increases, new x-ray source technologies are populating the landscape between the large facilities, such as synchrotrons and XFELs, and the standard laboratory x-ray sources e.g. based on rotating anodes. Among the new types of x-ray sources, those driven by lasers offer a unique combination of spectral distribution, source size and pulse duration. Here we present the most recent developments and results in x-ray imaging based on laser-driven x-ray sources, including multimodal and coherent diffraction imaging.
