The Vistula from the Onimic Perspective
<ns3:p>The Vistula river is permanently rooted in the landscape, history and culture of Poland, it is also firmly embedded in the naming landscape. Therefore the issues addressed in the article concern the presence of the Vistula – the main and the longest Polish river – from the onimic perspective. The consideration of this matter attests to the frequency of reaching for the name of the Vistula in naming. The illustration of the names founded from the hydronym Wisła, as well as the names referring to the Vistula, reveals a rich stock of names (functioning or non-functioning today) of different categories, generally toponymic and chrematonymic, and to a slight extent other.</ns3:p>
