AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI GETAH JARAK CINA (Jatropa multifada L.) TERHADAP BAKTERI UJI Propiobacterium acnes

The sap of the Chinese castor plant (Jatropha multifida L) contains active compounds of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and glycosides which are known to have antibacterial activity. The aim of this research was to test the administration of sap from the petioles of Chinese castor leaves (Jatropha multifida L) on the growth of Propionobacterium acnes bacteria. The evaluation of the antibacterial activity of the petiole sap of Chinese castor leaves (Jatropha multifida L) against Propionobacterium acnes bacteria was carried out using the diffusion method to determine the existence of an inhibition zone. In this study there were 3 test concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%, sterile distilled water as a negative control, and the antibiotic erythromycin as a positive control. The results of the study showed that the sap of the petiole of Chinese jatropha (Jatropha multifida L) showed antibacterial activity against Propionobacterium acnes bacteria with an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 16.18 mm, 18.32 mm, and 19.112 mm, respectively.
