Strategies for fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students in the digital era: A case study at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University

Abstract This study examines the factors influencing entrepreneurial intent among Animal Husbandry Faculty students at Udayana University, Indonesia, within the context of the digital era’s challenges and opportunities. A research gap exists in understanding how to effectively foster entrepreneurial spirit in this specific context, particularly within the animal husbandry sector. Using a case study approach with paired comparison, Internal-External (IE) analysis, and SWOT analysis (n=122 students), we found a strong internal environment (71% positive score) characterized by resources, dedicated faculty, and an entrepreneurship-oriented curriculum. The external environment also showed positive factors (84% positive score), including growing demand for animal products and accessible funding. Five key strategies emerged: continuous mentorship, digital-based training, supporting facilities, regular business exhibitions, and a student-managed business unit. These strategies, if implemented with university commitment, can significantly enhance entrepreneurial ventures.
