Coal Power and New Energy Collaborative Low-carbon Transformation Model and Path

Abstract In the 21st century, the frequent occurrence of extreme climate events caused by global climate change has prompted countries to actively set carbon neutral and carbon neutral goals and accelerate the green transformation of energy structure. Given China’s relatively high share of CO 2 emissions from energy activities, and its energy mix is heavily weighted towards coal, China urgently needs to develop clean energy on a large scale and build a diversified energy supply system. By the end of 2023, photovoltaic power generation and wind power have jumped to the second and third place in China’s installed power capacity, second only to coal power, this exceptional accomplishment has further intensified the conflict between the rapid growth of new energy power generation and the absence of coal power regulation capacity. Considering China’s coal and new energy power generation development status, this paper deeply analyzes the challenges of system balance brought by large-scale new energy grid connection, lack of flexible adjustment resources and imperfect market mechanism, and then puts forward targeted technology to improve system operation and control ability. By building the energy transition system model, we have thoroughly examined the successful course of China’s energy low-carbon transition, highlighting the significance of green and low-carbon technology innovation in particular. We have also offered logical and scientific recommendations for China’s energy low-carbon transition. The study’s findings are valuable benchmarks for different nations’ low-carbon energy transitions.
