Development of the prototype undulator for the SHINE project
Abstract The Shanghai High-Repetition-Rate XFEL and Extreme Light Facility (SHINE), currently under construction in Shanghai, China. In the startup configuration it will consist of three beam lines named FEL-I, FEL-II and FEL-III. Two 4-meter-long undulator prototypes called U26 and double-period undulator U55&75 have been developed and tested in Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This contribution describes their design and specifications, dedicated R&D activities especially on the magnet material, mechanical design issues, the control system and the mechanical assembly. Finally results of magnetic measurements and tuning are presented.
