Wearable underwater vital signs monitoring system
Abstract We have designed a monitoring system for vital signs that operates normally at depths of up to 300 meters. The system incorporates multiple sensors for measuring physiological parameters including blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, electrocardiogram signals, and body temperature. Utilizing a wearable, integrated design, it transmits data in real-time to a wrist display terminal and a surface computer for monitoring by divers and surface personnel. The collected photoplethysmography (PPG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals are filtered. The heart rate error calculated using PPG signal is less than 5%, and the blood oxygen error is less than 2%.Adopting adaptive filtering algorithm to filter ECG signals, the maximum error of RLS algorithm model is 0.13%. Tests are conducted on temperature, heart rate, and blood oxygen accuracy, underwater communication stability, and packaging pressure resistance.
