Research on inspection scheme planning method via CAD/ CAPP/CMM integration
Abstract This paper investigates the integration and data interoperability issues between Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and CAD/CAPP systems. It proposes an integrated framework model for CAD/CAPP/CMM, discusses the object model of CAPP and the extraction methods for geometric inspection items and the data, and conducts engineering practice using the self-developed KMCAPP and geometric inspection software DIRECT-DMIS. A case study involving a typical shaft demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed method. The results show that the integration framework can improve the utilization and consistency of models across the design, manufacturing, and inspection stages.
