Improving the performance of soil and gravel forest roads using localised materials

Abstract Local roads are mostly unground, that is, they have a soil or gravel surface, often located in difficult natural and climatic conditions, which imposes fundamental restrictions on the use of traditional road construction materials, which differ in the stability of their physical and mechanical characteristics, but the cost and complexity of delivery. At the same time, in construction practice, a significant amount of industrial waste or alternative biomaterials, which are rarely used, are generated. Thus, the problem can be solved by using industrial waste and alternative biomaterials in the construction of local ground and gravel roads. The proposed study is aimed at studying methods of improving and maintaining the structural and functional properties of local dirt and gravel roads to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic throughout the year.
