Modelling the process of gypsum particles transport by the coolant flow

Abstract The article presents the basic principles of equipment design to ensure a homogeneous two-phase flow in the mixing chamber of a gypsum heat treatment plant. At the first stage, it is necessary to create a homogeneous structure of the two-phase flow of coolant and crushed gypsum stone in a horizontal cylindrical mixing chamber, and then to firing it in a vertical reactor. The efficiency of heat exchange depends on the homogeneity of the two-phase turbulent flow supplied for firing. The process of transporting particles by a turbulent coolant flow in a firing apparatus depends on the parameters of the turbulent flow and the design features of the apparatus. The turbulent two-phase flow is a complex system whose behavior is determined by the interaction of many factors. A particle of the material to be burned in a gas stream always moves unevenly, its velocity varies both in size and direction. In real flows, in addition to aerodynamic drag, other factors can affect particle motion, including concentration and geometric confinement, particle rotation, velocity and temperature irregularities in the flow, and external fields. To determine the minimum speed of transport of a solid particle of a mixture by an air flow in a horizontal pipeline, the equation of equilibrium of forces acting on the particle is developed. The motion of a solid particle in a horizontal flow of a two-phase mixture is considered. The trajectories and velocities of gypsum particles in the mixing chamber are determined.
