An empirical study: margins and farmer’s share in the distribution of layers eggs at Pusako Farm

Abstract This study seeks to elucidate the trading channels of layer eggs, assess the trading margins, and calculate the farmer’s share. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the layer egg marketing system managed by Pusako Farm. This research is essential to provide a picture of egg marketing efficiency in this region. The research employs a survey methodology at Pusako Farm, where interviews were held with key stakeholders. Respondents of this study were obtained by purposive sampling method and obtained 53 respondents and were taken by census. The smallest trading margin was observed in Channel II, amounting to Rp. 167 per grain, followed by Channels III, IV, and V at Rp. 200 per tray, Channel VII at Rp. 233 per grain, and Channel VI at Rp. 267 per grain. The highest farmer’s share was recorded in Channel II at 91%, with Channels III, IV, and V at 89%, Channel VII at 88%, and Channel VI at 86%. All trading channels were deemed efficient, exceeding a 60% efficiency threshold. Channel II emerged as the most efficient, with a minimal trading margin and the highest farmer’s share.
