The effect of different doses of lamtoro leaf meal in Urea Multinutrient Block on digestibility of Sheep in vitro

Abstract One of the efforts made to improve feed digestibility is by adding feed supplements as additional feed. This study aims to determine the effect of different doses of lamtoro leaf meal in Urea multinutrient block (UMB) on the digestibility of sheep feed in vitro. This research was conducted at the Livestock Production Laboratory, Feed Science and Technology Laboratory, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The design used in this study was a completely randomised design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The method of measuring in vitro digestibility is using the tilley and terry method. The treatments consisted of P0 (0% lamtoro leaf meal), P1 (10% lamtoro leaf meal), P2 (20% lamtoro leaf meal), P3 (30% lamtoro leaf meal), P4 (40% lamtoro leaf meal). The parameters observed were dry matter digestibility analysis, organic matter digestibility analysis, and pH value measurement. Based on the results of the study, the addition of lamtoro leaf meal to LMB significantly decreased the digestibility of dry matter (P<0.01) and organic matter (P<0.05). The decrease in dry matter digestibility was 5.87% to 17.37%. These results indicate that the addition of lamtoro meal more than 10% in LMB will reduce the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in vitro.
