Assimilation Application of Radio Occultation Data from Tianmu-1 in Regional Numerical Weather Prediction
Abstract Based on the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model and its Three-dimensional variational(3DVAR) assimilation system, a one-month assimilation and prediction experiments using the radio occultation(RO) refractivity data from Tianmu-1 in the Northwest Pacific region was conducted. The experiment results indicated that assimilating the RO refractivity data from Tianmu-1 led to improvements in the forecast quality of the wind field, temperature field, and relative humidity field, with the improvement effect becoming more pronounced as the forecast duration increased.
