The impact of geopolitical risks on the economic security of construction companies
Abstract This paper investigates the impact of geopolitical risks on the economic security of construction enterprises, emphasizing their significance for sustainable development amid globalization and geopolitical transformations. The study identifies contemporary challenges, analyses associated risks, and proposes strategies to bolster resilience against external threats. It examines how geopolitical conflicts, currency instability, and related factors influence construction enterprises, highlighting unique vulnerabilities compared to other industries. A comprehensive list of geopolitical risks specific to construction enterprises was compiled, and key indicators of their economic security were defined. Using correlation and regression analysis, a methodology for assessing the impact of geopolitical risks was developed and applied to Ukraine’s top ten construction companies from 2014 to 2023. The analysis identified the most significant risks affecting their operations. Recommendations include addressing migration crises, improving working conditions, staff training, and strengthening collaborations with educational institutions. Additional measures, such as continuous geopolitical monitoring, building financial reserves, fostering innovation, and partnerships with government and international organizations, are proposed to mitigate risks and enhance stability. The findings offer actionable strategies to ensure the economic security of construction enterprises under challenging geopolitical conditions.
