Protein Quality, Fat Digestibility, and Chitin of Zophobas morio Larvae with Different Composition of Cultivated Media

Abstract This research examines the influence of cultured media composition on the protein quality, fat digestibility, and chitin content of Zophobas morio larvae. The employed methodology is an experimental approach utilizing a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) featuring six treatments (varied compositions of grown media) and three replications. The treatments are A (100% CR), B (80% CR + 20% TD), C (60% CR + 40% TD), D (40% CR + 60% TD), E (20% CR + 80% TD), F (100% TD). The examined variables included fresh production (g/500g medium), crude protein (%), crude fat (%), chitin (%), nitrogen retention (%), and fat digestibility. The findings indicated that variations in the composition of cultured media had a statistically significant impact (P<0.05) on fresh production, crude protein, crude fat, chitin, nitrogen retention, and fat digestibility in Zophobas morio larvae. The study determines that 100% tofu dregs medium is the optimal treatment for cultivating Zophobas morio larvae.
