Development of a higher-order suppression mirror system over a wide X-ray energy range with a single-axis of rotation

Abstract A newly developed single-axis controlled higher-order suppression mirror (HSM) system has been installed at BL39XU. This system comprises three mirrors and is designed to maintain the beam position on the sample, regardless of whether the user selects an energy range or retracts the mirrors. Two sets of mirror coatings are utilized to facilitate the cover of a wide energy range. The Ru-Ru-Ru and Pt-W/C-Pt coatings have been selected in order to achieve reflectivity above 0.5 for the energy ranges of 5-15 keV and 21-30 keV, respectively. The higher-order suppression, calculated for the two respective energy ranges, is approximately 10 4 for Ru-Ru-Ru and 10 8 for Pt-W/C-Pt. The performance assessment conducted through the beam displacement and reflectivity measurements demonstrated that the HSM system effectively preserves the beam trajectory while delivering efficient higher-order suppression.
