15th International Conference on Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation (SRI 2024), 26 August to 30 August 2024

The 15th International Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation Conference (SRI 2024) took place from 26-30 August 2024 in Hamburg (Germany), where the conference series started in 1982 at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY. The last SRI conference was originally scheduled to take place in Hamburg in summer 2021. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to be postponed to 2022 and could then only be held as an online event. After a positive decision from the community, the SRI 2024 could then finally take place in person in the fantastic location of the Congress Center Hamburg. Hamburg showed its best side throughout the entire week with superb weather. The first SRI conference was held in 1982 at DESY under the leadership of Bronislaw Buras from University of Copenhagen (Denmark). The purpose of the conference was to create a triannual forum and meeting place for the exchange of ideas and know-how for all scientists and engineers working in the field of synchrotron radiation (SR), which at that time still was in its infancy. And indeed, the conference series has fulfilled its purpose judging by the progress in not only instrumentation for synchrotron radiation facilities but also for free-electron lasers (FEL). The advancement since then has been truly impressive with brilliance curves and data rates that encompass the growth in performance in microelectronics. The progress is further substantiated by the excellent papers in these proceedings. The attendance of the conference was remarkable. More than 1200 registered participants from 34 countries and 210 institutions were counted, as well as 57 industrial exhibitors. There were 541 registered posters, 37 micro symposia sessions, and 273 talks comprised of 3 keynote talks, 11 plenary talks, 111 invited talks and 148 contributed talks. List of International Advisory Committee, Scientific Programme Committee, Local Organising Committee and Proceedings are available in this PDF.
