The 57Fe Synchrotron Mössbauer Source at P01, PETRAIII.
Abstract The paper presents the development and performance of the 57 Fe Synchrotron Mössbauer Source (SMS) at the beamline P01 at PETRA III. A detailed description of the experimental setup is provided, including the optical elements and the critical role of high-quality iron borate crystals used as the Mössbauer source. The performance of the SMS is demonstrated through measurements of α-iron and the single-line absorber, K 2 Mg 57 Fe(CN) 6 , underlying the system’s capability for precise energy resolution. These results highlight SMS as a powerful tool for advanced material studies, particularly in fields requiring small beam size.
