Evaluation of Durva (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.) Taila Uttara Basti and urethral calibration in the conservative management of urethral stricture - A case report
Urethral stricture presents a significant challenge in urology, particularly due to its tendency for recurrence after surgical intervention. This case finding examines the efficacy of Durva ( Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.) Taila Uttara Basti (medicated oil administered through urethra) combined with urethral calibration as a conservative treatment for urethral stricture. The patient, a 44-year-old male with a history of cystoscopy and laser visual internal urethrotomy, presented with a significant reduction in urinary flow. Over 21 days, a treatment regimen consisting of Durva Taila Uttara Basti and periodic calibration was administered. Uroflowmetry and patient-reported outcomes were used to evaluate treatment efficacy. Posttreatment, there was a marked improvement in urine flow rate and voided volume, with minimal discomfort reported. This case study suggests that Durva Taila Uttara Basti , combined with urethral calibration, offers a promising alternative to surgical management for urethral stricture.
