Highly sensitive optical micro/nanofiber temperature sensing probe
Highly sensitive miniature temperature sensors exhibit promising application potential in early disease diagnosis and temperature monitoring under space-constrained conditions. Although optical micro/nanofiber (MNF) temperature sensors possess advantages such as high sensitivity and a small footprint, they are significantly restricted by the pressure-temperature cross-sensitivity issue. To address this limitation, we developed a miniaturized temperature sensing probe enabled by stainless-steel capillary encapsulated MNF. Thanks to the effective packaging, pressure-induced interference on temperature measurement is effectively mitigated, achieving a temperature resolution of 0.01 °C within the range of 25~45 °C. Leveraging the small diameter (1.2 mm) and rapid thermal response of the stainless-steel capillary, ex vivo biological tissue temperature measurements are realized, indicating a capability to distinguish subtle temperature differences between tumors and normal tissues.
