Strategi Role Playing Terintegrasi Literacy Cloud dalam Penguatan Pemahaman Teks Bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Role Playing method in improving students’ comprehension of English narrative texts. The comprehension assessed includes students’ ability to answer questions related to characters, plot, setting, and moral messages conveyed in English stories. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test format. The subjects were 24 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through a multiple-choice test developed based on indicators of story comprehension. The analysis showed a significant increase in students’ scores after the treatment, with the post-test mean score notably higher than the pre-test. The t-test indicated a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level. These findings suggest that the Role Playing method is effective in helping students understand story content through active and contextual engagement. The implication of this study highlights that the implementation of Role Playing, supported by digital media such as Literacy Cloud, can serve as an enjoyable and meaningful alternative learning strategy to enhance English literacy skills among elementary students. Teachers are encouraged to integrate this approach consistently to foster a communicative learning environment that supports both cognitive and affective development.
