PLASMA HEATING OF A MOVING PLATE IN THE PROCESS OF FORMING BIMETALLIC SHEETS MATERIALS

The research conducted in this work is aimed at optimizing the technological scheme and heating modes of a steel plate moving relative to a concentrated energy source to obtain a flat surface bath of melt under conditions of continuous operation of the heating source. The authors’ efforts were aimed at creating a mathematical model that reflects the real physical process of plasma local heating of the surface of a metal plate, as well as at finding methods for stabilizing the heating process and the uniformity of its parameters in order to use plasma heating under conditions of a continuous technological process. The work presents the results of computational studies of the energy parameters of the plasma jet, the distance of the plasma torch to the treated surface and the time of the plasma torch in the treatment zone or the speed of its movement. The critical and maximum permissible modes of surface heating in an oxidizing environment are established, which satisfy the conditions for obtaining bimetallic products with subsequent pouring of the melt on it of the second layer and liquid-phase connection of the layers. The most rational method of uniform and stable surface heating of a metal plate has been determined. Under given processing conditions, critical values of temperature, time and geometric parameters of the existence of a micrometallurgical bath on the plate surface under the action of a plasma heating source have been determined. The optimal heating parameters have also been determined, which increase the stability and uniformity of this process, and also provide conditions for the creation of a flat surface micrometallurgical bath of the melt of sufficient size and time of its existence - as necessary prerequisites for the entire continuous technological process of manufacturing bimetallic and multilayer products.
