Synergistic Effect of <i>Rhizobium</i>, <i>Azotobacter</i> and its Growth Response on Cowpea (<i>Vigna unguiculata</i> L.)

This study investigates the synergistic effects of Rhizobium and Azotobacter on the growth and yield of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.). Both microbes are known for their nitrogen-fixing capabilities, but their combined impact on plant growth has been underexplored. The research examines microbial interactions through inoculation and assesses parameters such as plant height, number of nodules, chlorophyll content, and overall biomass. Results show that dual inoculation significantly enhances growth compared to individual microbial treatments and control groups. This synergistic effect demonstrates the potential of co-inoculation strategies for improving legume productivity while reducing chemical fertilizer dependency.
