157 Evaluation of Compliance with Recommendation to Take Rivaroxaban with Food
Introduction: Rivaroxaban is a common anticoagulant use for the prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (Afib) and in the prevention and treatment of thrombosis in patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE). Current recommendation requires that patient on rivaroxaban 15 mg or 20 mg daily take it with food, as food affects its absorption. Bioavailability for rivaroxaban 20 mg is estimated at 66% in a fasted state vs. high bioavailability (>80%) with food. This study aims to assess the proportion of patients on rivaroxaban that is noncompliant with taking it with food.
